As a result, \u00a0by utilizing OpenSolar\u2019s industry-leading design tool, solar installers \u00a0will have full confidence they are providing customers with the most \u00a0accurate photovoltaic (PV) designs that fit their solar energy needs. \u00a0Combined with other key features of OpenSolar\u2019s free-to-use platform, \u00a0including access to a range of state-of-the-art hardware, a portfolio of \u00a0competitive solar financing options, and on-demand customized \u00a0permitting proposals, the company enables solar installers to convert \u00a0more prospects into booked sales while saving time and eliminating the \u00a0costly licensing fees attached to other solar design and sales \u00a0platforms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">As part of OpenSolar\u2019s validation process, the company engaged with PV \u00a0EvolutionLabs (PVEL) and the United States National Renewable Energy \u00a0Laboratory (NREL), two of the solar industry\u2019s most trusted expert \u00a0resources, to provide independent, third-party assessments of the \u00a0accuracy of its design tool. The assessments include the following \u00a0processes and findings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><strong>Shading<\/strong>\u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">OpenSolar asked the United \u00a0States National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), which has been \u00a0benchmarking shading accuracy of solar design tools for years, to assess \u00a0the company\u2019s 3D design tool. NREL compared the shading estimates \u00a0provided by OpenSolar\u2019s remote 3D tool with assessments made on the same \u00a0roof using a SunEye, the world\u2019s leading hand-held electronic shade \u00a0measurement tool for on-site assessment. NREL found the accuracy of \u00a0OpenSolar estimates to be best-in-class.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font_8\">\u200bOpenSolar\u2019s assessment of Sun Access Values was accurate to within +\/- 3%<\/li>\n<li class=\"font_8\">The current US market leader was only found to be accurate to within +\/- 5%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><strong>Site Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">OpenSolar engaged PVEL, the \u00a0leading independent lab for the global downstream solar industry, to \u00a0assess the accuracy of its system-generated site models. PVEL took \u00a0measurements both in the field and in OpenSolar across a wide range of \u00a0differently shaped and sized roofs. PVEL found the accuracy of \u00a0OpenSolar\u2019s models to be best-in-class.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font_8\">\u200bOpenSolar\u2019s assessment of scale was accurate to within 1 \u2153 feet 100% of the time (no other tool provides as narrow a tolerance)<\/li>\n<li class=\"font_8\">OpenSolar\u2019s assessment of \u00a0pitch was accurate to within 4 degrees over 97% of the time (no other \u00a0tool provides as narrow a tolerance OR such high compliance)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><strong>Energy Modeling<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">OpenSolar\u2019s energy modeling \u00a0(the conversion of key inputs, including pitch azimuth and shading into \u00a0the key output: production) is based on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sam.nrel.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>NREL\u2019s most advanced System Advisor Model<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(SAM).\u00a0 \u00a0The company engaged with PVEL to validate the integrity of OpenSolar\u2019s \u00a0implementation of SAM, when comparing it to industry standard energy \u00a0modeling tools like PVsyst or standalone implementations of NREL\u2019s SAM.\u00a0 \u00a0PVEL found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font_8\">\u200bOpenSolar\u2019s energy modeling is consistent with standard engineering practices<\/li>\n<li class=\"font_8\">OpenSolar\u2019s production figures are within 0.0%-0.2% of standalone SAM estimates<\/li>\n<li class=\"font_8\">OpenSolar\u2019s production figures are within 0.1%-1.9% of PVsyst
