Turning Feedback into Features: The Powerful New CashFlow 3.0 Payment Engine
With the launch of OpenSolar 3.0, we introduced a new era for solar professionals: a single, AI-powered operating system to run your entire business. A critical part of that “end-to-end” vision is ensuring the workflow from “first contact” to “final payment” is seamless.
A powerful platform needs a powerful payment engine. That’s why we’ve been listening intently to your feedback on how to make getting paid faster, more flexible, and more efficient. Our CashFlow platform has been evolving to meet your needs, and these updates are the engine that helps power the new, integrated experience in OS 3.0.
Here are the highlights of what we built based on your requests.
1. Simplify how you collect payments with Shareable Links and Flexible Invoicing
Your feedback was clear: you need to get paid in different ways, at different times, and via different channels.
The Highlight: Shareable Payment Links
You asked for the ability to quickly generate Shareable Payment Links that you can send via text, WhatsApp, or any other tool you use to communicate with customers. We built this new flow to do exactly that. You can now generate a direct payment link for any amount—like a pre-sale deposit—and send it instantly. This gives you total flexibility in how you collect payments, unbundling it from the formal invoicing process.

Of course, this new flexibility works alongside our Flexible Invoicing Modes. You still have the power to choose what’s best for each project:
- One invoice for the whole project cost: A single, running summary for your customer that’s paid down over time.
- Milestone Invoicing: One invoice per payment milestone, allowing for multiple invoices per project.
- No Invoice Option: For when you just need to send a direct payment request or want to manage invoices off our platform.
2. Give customers clarity with the new Customer Payments Overview Portal
A key part of the OS 3.0 promise is a more professional, engaging sales experience. You told us this must extend to the payment process, giving your customers clarity and confidence.
The Highlight: The Customer Payments Overview Portal
We built the new Customer Payments Overview Portal to give your customers a single, professional hub for all their payments. This isn’t just a list; it allows the customer to contextualize each payment within the whole project. They can easily “zoom out” from a single request to see the overall payment flow—what they’ve paid, what’s due, and how many payments are left.
Best of all, this entire experience is branded with your logo and colors, so it feels like your tool, giving your customers a seamless and professional experience from start to finish.
3. Streamline operations with the new Payouts Dashboard and smarter admin tools
The goal of OS 3.0 is to reduce friction and eliminate disconnected systems. We’ve heard your feedback that having CashFlow integrated within OpenSolar makes internal collaboration easier than using separate tools. We wanted to double down on that to help your business run even more smoothly.
The Highlight: The In-App Payouts Dashboard
To support your internal teams, what started as a Beta is now a complete financial reconciliation tool. The Payouts Dashboard gives your team a single, consolidated view of all payout history, grouped by date. Your finance and ops teams can now see a full breakdown of all included transactions, fees, refunds, and chargebacks—all without leaving OpenSolar.

Your feedback has also helped us build tools in the past few months to make your team more efficient:
- Standalone Custom Invoices: This was one of your most popular requests. You can now create a custom invoice for anything, without needing a solar project. Bill for panel cleaning, a roofing repair, or an EV charger, and keep all your revenue in one system.
- Smarter, Dynamic Settings: You shared a clear opportunity for us: making settings dynamic. Now, when you update your accepted payment methods or surcharging rules, they automatically apply to all future, unsent invoices. This, plus new controls for cancellation notices and CC vs. BCC logic, saves hours of admin time.
What’s next: deeper accounting integrations
As we look to 2026, our focus is on deepening the connections between OpenSolar and the other tools you rely on.
For a while, we’ve had a Beta program for our QuickBooks and Xero integrations. Based on the valuable feedback we received, we are now building new direct integrations with these accounting platforms. This new approach will give us more flexibility to add features that make your life easier and will allow us to expand the integration beyond just payments.
We expect to roll out the next, much-improved version of our accounting integration tool in early Q1. We’re incredibly excited to hear from any professional who wants to talk to us about how to better connect your accounting workflows with your OpenSolar workflows.
Keep talking
These features are live in your account today because pros like you told us they were important. As you explore these new tools—and think about what’s next—please keep the feedback coming. We’re not just building software; we’re building the future of OS 3.0 with you.
