Your Vote Matters! Your Feedback & What We’re Doing About It
We love hearing your suggestions and feedback through our quarterly NPS surveys, research and support sessions, and the (?) in the top-right corner of the app.
We use this feedback to prioritise what we build next. This blog shares what we’ve delivered recently and what we’re working on now based on your suggestions.
And next up, we’re launching a new question in the quarterly survey that will let you vote directly on what we build next. Your rankings will decide how we allocate development resources so we can build a platform that serves your needs.
For solar pros, by solar pros!
Features we’ve recently launched based on your feedback
Document Management
Document Management gives you a single place to upload, generate, merge, export, and share project documents from lead through to installation.
That includes handover packs, job packs, customer documents, and internal project files, making it easier to keep project information organised and accessible across the full workflow.
“With the update, we can now upload multiple files and installation photos at once. Creating the Owner’s Manual is easier than ever. One of the most encouraging things is how open OpenSolar is to user input. I’ve been able to speak directly with the developer, and it’s clear that the team genuinely listens and prioritises the needs of installers like us.”

E-signatures
DocuSign has been available in OpenSolar for some time, and we recently added PandaDoc as another option for managing contracts and customer approvals.
This gives you more flexibility in how you handle sign-off while keeping documents connected to the wider project workflow. It also makes the approval process more seamless, compliant, and auditable without needing to move between platforms.

Designing with multiple panel types and optimisers
You can now design systems using more than one panel type and assign different optimisers within the same project, making it easier to model more complex system layouts accurately.

Other key improvements from your feedback
- Proposal loading speed improvements: We’ve made improvements to proposal loading speeds to help projects open and load faster across the platform.
- Buildable panels:Buildable panels let you control which panels a salesperson or collaborating org can add or remove from the system layout, without giving them access to edit the full design.
- Expanded user access personalisation: We’ve added more options for custom roles and user access personalisation, giving you more control over permissions and team workflows.
What we’re working on next
1. Scheduling inside OpenSolar
One thing we heard consistently was that teams wanted a smoother way to manage project delivery without jumping between multiple systems.
Scheduling brings native calendar and scheduling tools into OpenSolar, including Google Calendar and Outlook integrations, making it easier to manage appointments, installation timelines, and team coordination alongside the rest of your project workflow.
Scheduling is currently in early access and will launch globally in June.
2. 3D imagery
Higher-resolution 3D imagery is launching soon, including support for vertical walls. This will help you create sharper, more detailed customer-facing proposals and work with better imagery when designing on more complex sites. Pay-per-project fees will apply.
3. Battery modelling improvements
We’re working on improvements to battery ROI calculations and battery behaviour modelling. These updates will give you more visibility into payback, utilisation, and control scheme setup when designing and selling storage.
4. Site plan annotations
We’re building improved site plan annotation tools to help you create cleaner and more professional site plans and install guides. This will make the final stages of the design process faster and easier, with less manual work needed to prepare documentation.
5. Single Line Diagram (SLD) improvements
Upcoming SLD updates will improve support for more complex systems, including multi-phase sites and inverters with 3+ MPPTs. This should help you produce more accurate SLDs and reduce manual rework before sharing designs with installers, utilities, or permitting bodies.
6. Auto Design template improvements
We’re expanding Auto Design Templates so they can be used in more scenarios, including no-panel templates for BoS-only projects and more powerful component logic.
7. Cabling, isolator, and design logic improvements
We’re also working on easier isolator and cable configuration, along with broader design logic improvements.
For UK teams in particular, these updates are intended to make compliant design workflows smoother. More mounting systems will also be supported, helping you produce more complete, compatible BOMs ready to order from preferred suppliers.
You decide our priorities
In the next quarterly survey, we’re launching a new question that will show a list of commonly requested features so you can vote on what matters most to you. This list is created based on your support tickets, quarterly survey responses, and feedback submitted through the (?) in the top-right of the app.
We’ll use this ranking to directly decide which features we prioritise building next.
You’ll see more about that in the app and via email next month.
Thank you for the feedback so far
A huge amount of what’s been released recently, and what’s currently being built, has come directly from your feedback. So if you’ve filled out a survey, spoken to support, joined a research session, or sent feedback through the app, thank you. It genuinely helps us understand what matters most and where OpenSolar can better support your work.
And if there’s something you’d like to see improved or added, please keep letting us know. The fastest way is through the question mark in the top-right corner of the app. Everything sent through there gets logged and reviewed by the team.
