FAQs

Do I need a subscription?

No. Imagery Marketplace is pay-as-you-go, with no upfront subscription required.

How do I turn on Imagery Marketplace?

Review the help center article on specifics, including how to set up your OpenSolar Wallet, add funds, and enable your imagery providers.

Who can set up Imagery Marketplace?

Your org admin sets up Wallet and enables providers. If you want other users to buy imagery in projects, an admin can turn on Project – Purchases for that role.

Does enabling a provider charge me straight away?

No. Enabling a provider just turns it on for your account. You are only charged when imagery is purchased in a project.

What happens if my Wallet balance is too low?

You will not be able to complete the purchase until your Wallet has been topped up. If you’re not an admin, you will need an admin to add funds. To help avoid this, we recommend enabling auto top-up.

Can I switch providers by project?

Yes if multiple providers are available in your market. You can choose the imagery provider that best fits the job, budget, and level of accuracy you need.

What’s the difference between MetroMap and Nearmap?

In Australia, MetroMap is the lower-cost, high-resolution 2D option for standard projects. Nearmap is the highest premium option when you need higher resolution, 3D coverage. Provider availability varies by market.

What the Pros have to say

Loving the plug-and-play aspect of premium imagery on a per-project basis with OpenSolar. It only took a minute or two to get it all set up. Our designers and sales reps were almost instantly layering in premium imagery for just the projects they felt needed that extra boost.
