Project Zambia 2022-2023

Phase 1

Undi and Chutika in Eastern Zambia have no access to electricity.

In partnership with you, our community of solar installers, our partners and the nonprofit Empowered by Light, OpenSolar is installing solar water pumps, water storage and irrigation systems to increase crop yield and improve safety and health in these communities.

Project Zambia 2022

Impact Report

We have completed our Zambia project and were able to install solar-powered water pumps, storage and irrigation systems in two Zambian villages, Undi and Chutika. This project was funded by our 1% annual revenue commitment, in partnership with Empowered by Light.

How Solar Installers Help Make this Happen

The first step is easy - simply by using OpenSolar to grow your business, you enable us to do this work.

If you want to take it a step further, you can differentiate your solar proposals to your customers even more, making a direct impact to underserved communities.

For a monthly donation of just US$10, Empowered by Light will add their exhibit to all of your customer proposals on OpenSolar. Not only will your customers receive an attractive solar offer, they'll also:

  • See inspiring video content about the people they'll help

  • Appreciate your company as one that sees the bigger picture

  • Be even more inclined to accept your proposal

"Being an Empowered by Light contributor has been a great way for us to stand out from our competitors. Our customers can see that our commitment to a more sustainable future runs deep. It’s such a low lift from our end but it has such a big impact."
