OpenSolar accelerates India solar adoption with AI-powered solar platform
Chennai, 13th October, 2026 – OpenSolar, India’s leading, free to installers solar software platform serving more than 1,000 Indian solar businesses, and more than 25,000 solar installer businesses globally, announced a raft of new partnerships designed to accelerate solar adoption across the country.
OpenSolar’s India mission is to drive increased installation volume by giving solar installers, manufacturers, distributors and service providers a unified platform to deploy high quality solar projects across India. OpenSolar has assembled an Indian team of industry leaders, to lead the mission locally.
OpenSolar today announced a new partnership with Solarium Green Energy as a founding partner in the OpenSolar India hardware shop. The company also announced a partnership with Razorpay, facilitating customer payments directly through the OpenSolar platform.
The partnership with Solarium Green Energy focuses on improving the productivity and overall accuracy of the hardware ordering process for Indian solar installers, nationwide. Installers will be able to design systems with their favourite equipment, supported by real-time pricing and local availability. When a sale is completed, a bill of materials is automatically calculated and the order is sent to Solarium Green Energy, without the conventional, complicated processes of checking stock availability, shipping and pricing. Solarium Green Energy is the first to be included in the OpenSolar Shop, with more partnerships in OpenSolar’s Ecosystem Builder Partner program to be announced soon.
The partnership with Razorpay is designed to dramatically reduce the time and effort spent by the installer and the customer to transact throughout the duration of a solar project. As part of OpenSolar’s Cashflow feature, Razorpay will integrate directly into the OpenSolar platform. Indian homeowners and businesses can pay for their solar systems using the payment methods they already know and trust every day. Customers can complete deposits or full invoices in seconds using Google Pay, standard UPI, or cards straight from their digital proposal.
“India is one of the most dynamic solar markets in the world, and expanding our footprint here is a pivotal milestone for OpenSolar,” said Andrew Birch, co-founder and CEO of OpenSolar. “By pairing our AI Auto Design tools with Google Maps Platform’s Solar API, installers can already generate high-precision 3D site models and proposals in seconds. Adding these new local hardware and payment integrations completes the picture—empowering Indian solar businesses to quote faster, reduce site assessment costs, and ultimately accelerate rooftop solar adoption nationwide.”
Serving as a complete operating system for solar contractors, OpenSolar streamlines the entire project lifecycle—from remote site modeling and interactive proposals to hardware procurement and payment collection. Because the platform is sustained through integrated industry partnerships, installers across India can leverage these high quality design and management tools completely free of charge.
“Google Maps Platform brings Google Earth AI capabilities to developers and businesses with the geospatial insights they need to solve complex clean energy transition challenges,” said Saleem Van Groenou, Senior Product Manager, Google. “We’re excited to work with OpenSolar to deliver solutions that accelerate an installer’s workflow and support India’s clean energy revolution.”
OpenSolar’s India launch is set to drive the market forward following major government support committed in 2024. “Definitely the ADA (Auto-Design Assistant) has actually really helped,” says Mohit Punia from Amar Solar in Maharashtra. “I’ve taught everyone in my team how to do that and that has really decreased the turnaround time of every proposal.” OpenSolar helps cut costs for Indian solar installers. “OpenSolar helps me save at least one site visit per customer. One site visit is approximately ₹2,500”, says Mohit Punia from Amar Solar, also in Maharashtra. OpenSolar is also improving levels of trust with the homeowner. “So when I started my business in India, I’ve used OpenSolar from the start,” says Manav Shah from Zero Energy in Gujarat. “With OpenSolar, I can confidently tell customers their expected annual generation units, which helps with the sales process.”
All of the integrations announced today can be experienced next week at OpenSolar’s stand at the Renewable Energy India Expo (REI), booth D224, Hall 6.
