UK Sales Toolkit: Help Customers Compare Proposals, Choose, Sign, and Pay

18 July 2026

UK customers are used to comparing energy choices before they commit.

They compare tariffs, payment methods, supplier rates, and expected bills. When solar is part of the sale, they may also compare export rates: how much different electricity suppliers will pay for the energy sent back to the grid.

Your proposal needs to make that decision easier.

Use this sales toolkit to set up the OpenSolar sales tools covered in the webinar. Help customers compare proposals, review payment options, move through checkout, sign, and pay with fewer handoffs.

What to set up first

Start with the tools that take a customer from proposal to checkout, signature, and payment.

1 / Set up CashFlow and checkout

CashFlow powers the newer checkout and payment tools in the proposal flow. Set this up first so your team can collect payments, track activity, and keep the sale moving after the customer chooses.

Do this:

Set up CashFlow.

Review checkout settings.

Check where your team will track payment activity.

2 / Review e-signature and payment collection

When the customer is ready, they should be able to review the checkout, sign, and pay without extra follow-up from your team.

Do this:

Review e-signature setup.

Connect Stripe or review your payment collection setup.

Check deposit and milestone payment settings.

Review how the customer moves from finance to contract signing to payment.

3 / Check UK finance and payment options

UK customers may compare cash, finance, deposits, milestone payments, monthly payment, term, APR, total repayable, and estimated savings before they move forward.

Review the buying routes you want to show customers, and check any provider or accreditation requirements before using them in proposals.

Do this:

Check UK Finance Marketplace setup.

Confirm MCS accreditation requirements.

Review provider availability where relevant.

Review milestone payments and payment options.

Customise the sales flow

After the core setup is in place, review the settings that help customers understand the job, compare the proposal, and take the next step.

Show the job and prove the value

Start with the proposal. A clear proposal shows the customer what they are buying, which assumptions are being used, and why your recommendation fits their home.

Review:

Proposal templates and featured figures.

Swipe layout, if your team wants a more interactive proposal experience.

Tariff and export assumptions.

Savings, payback, or net savings figures.

Equipment detail shown in the proposal.

3D Plus imagery, where clearer visuals make the job easier to explain.

Heat pump modelling, where it is part of the sale.

Quick Quote for simpler add-ons or service work.

Make customer comparisons easier

Give customers a clear view of the buying routes available to them.

Review:

Whether the proposal shows the buying routes you offer.

Whether finance, deposit, and milestone payment options are easy to understand.

Whether monthly payment, term, APR, total repayable, and estimated savings are shown clearly where relevant.

Whether the customer knows what happens after they choose.

Track the work after checkout

Once the customer signs or pays, your team needs a clear record of what happened.

Review:

Signed document tracking.

Payment tracking in CashFlow.

Active invoices.

Xero or QuickBooks sync, where connected.

Before you use it with customers

Make sure your team can:

Present the proposal clearly: show tariff, export, savings, payment, and key proposal assumptions in a way the customer can understand.

Take the customer through checkout: go from proposal to checkout, e-signature, and payment collection without extra follow-up.

Offer the right buying paths: show UK finance, marketplace, deposit, and milestone payment options where relevant.

Track what happens next: see signed documents, payments, invoices, and the full proposal-to-payment path in OpenSolar.

Move from legacy flows

Legacy proposal configurations and older checkout flows will begin sunsetting later this year.

Move over early so your team has time to get comfortable before your busiest sales periods.
