5 February 2024 – OpenSolar Pty Ltd, the software pioneer behind the world’s only free-to-use solar software, today unveiled CashFlow, a transformative payment solution designed to supercharge the efficiency and profitability of British and Australian solar businesses.

As the solar industry continues its rapid expansion, CashFlow arrives to tackle one of the sector’s biggest pain points: managing complex payment processes while preserving cash flow. Tailored specifically for solar businesses, this innovative system streamlines invoicing, payments, and reconciliation, enabling businesses to focus on growth and customer service.

“Solar businesses face unique challenges when it comes to managing cash flow – from juggling payments across project stages to dealing with expensive processing fees,” said Andrew Birch (“Birchy”), CEO and Co-founder of OpenSolar. “CashFlow was designed to tackle these challenges head-on. By automating payment processes and reducing transaction costs, we’re enabling solar businesses to focus on growth, not admin, while keeping more money where it belongs – in their pockets.”

CashFlow simplifies the entire payment process, from initial deposits to final invoices. Fully embedded in OpenSolar’s platform, it automates invoicing, sends payment reminders, and syncs directly with accounting systems to make reconciliation effortless. The platform also offers customers flexible payment options, improving their experience while saving businesses money and time.

“CashFlow’s credit card processing fees are typically 30-40% lower than conventional payment processing providers, saving solar companies money on every transaction,” said Joe Abel, Chief Monetisation Officer. “Account to account transfer costs are also very competitive, but it’s when you look at the time saved from preparing, sending and reconciling payments that the real savings kick in.”

Early adopters in the UK and Australia have praised the system’s ease of use and significant cost savings. “Using Cashflow has made running my business so much easier – there’s so much less data entry now and I love being able to use the same platform to manage everything. It’s saving me heaps of time and therefore money and means I can now focus on more important things!”, said Matt Slutzkin, Managing Director of Green Sky Solar, based in Victoria, Australia.

OpenSolar CashFlow is now available for all solar companies on OpenSolar in the UK, Australia and and the United States, having launched in the latter in September 2024. CashFlow complements OpenSolar’s market-leading integrated finance offering, to provide solar companies with complete flexibility for customer payments.
