Shining a light on Women in Solar: My take on an inclusive future

Ah, the solar industry! It's been my playground and passion for a while now, but I've got to say, it's been more of a one-sided game. Picture this: walking into a conference and counting the women on one hand. But hold on, because I've got some news that's as refreshing as the first sip of lemonade on a hot summer's day. Things are changing, and oh, how bright the future looks!

Let's talk about the elephant in the room – yes, solar has been a bit of a boys' club. But here's where the plot twists: diversity is creeping in, and it's not just for show. It's transforming everything! More women are stepping into roles across the board, and the impact? It's like switching from black and white to full HD colour.

Enter OpenSolar. We aren't just participating in the diversity parade; we're leading it. Currently at 46% female representation – including two on our Leadership team - with Maaike and myself showing us how it's done. The result? Creativity that's off the charts, products that make you go "Wow," and a company vibe that's more inclusive than a family reunion.

And it's not just about OpenSolar. Take Vibe Solar, for instance. A solar company owned by women, for the world. They're not just succeeding; they're setting benchmarks. It's like watching a live demo of "Yes, we can!"

So, here's my call to action: Let's shake up the solar industry. It's time to move beyond the status quo and embrace a future where diversity isn't just an option; it's the foundation. Because when we do, the possibilities are as limitless as the sun's energy.

As we celebrate International Women's Day, let's not just applaud the women making waves in solar. Let's join them, support them, and be the change. Because together, we're not just lighting up homes; we're lighting up the world.

Excited? You bet I am! And I hope you are too. Let's make this journey together, one solar panel at a time.
