US Sales Toolkit: Help Customers Compare Options from Proposal to Payment

19 July 2026

US customers need a clearer way to compare how they can buy.

A customer may like the system, understand the savings, and agree that solar makes sense. The quote can still slow down when they ask, “How do I actually buy this?”

That question gets harder when customers are comparing cash, loans, HELOCs, leases, PPAs, monthly payment, term, APR, total repayable, and estimated savings.

Your proposal should make those choices easy to compare.

Use this sales toolkit to set up the OpenSolar sales tools covered in the webinar. Help customers understand the proposal, compare ownership and payment options, apply, sign, and pay with fewer handoffs.

What to set up first

Start with the tools that take a customer from proposal to checkout, signature, and payment.

1 / Set up CashFlow and checkout

CashFlow powers the newer checkout and payment tools in the proposal flow.

Set this up first so your team can collect payments, track activity, and keep the quote moving after the customer chooses an option.

Do this:

Set up CashFlow.

Review checkout settings.

Check where your team will track payment activity.

2 / Set up finance and ownership options

US customers may compare cash, loans, HELOCs, leases, PPAs, monthly payment, term, APR, total repayable, and estimated savings before they move forward.

Review the options your team wants to show customers. Check any provider or setup requirements before using them in proposals.

Do this:

Review cash, loan, lease, and PPA options where relevant.

Check Sungage setup if your team offers Sungage loans.

Check Figure HELOC availability and how it appears in the proposal.

Review deposit and milestone payment settings.

Confirm how each option shows the monthly payment, term, APR, total amount repayable, and estimated savings, where available.

3 / Review E-Signature and payment collection

When the customer is ready, they should be able to apply, sign, and pay without extra follow-up.

Do this:

Review e-signature setup.

Connect Stripe or review your current payment collection setup.

Check deposit payment settings.

Review how the customer moves from finance to contract signing to payment.

Customize the sales flow

After the core setup is in place, review the settings that help customers understand the job, compare ownership and payment options, and choose the next step.

Show the job and prove the value

Start with the proposal. A clear proposal shows the customer what they are buying, which assumptions are being used, and why your recommendation fits their home.

Review:

Proposal templates and featured figures.

Scroll and Swipe proposal layouts.

Exclusive or Bespoke proposal options, where relevant.

Premium Nearmap imagery, where clearer visuals make the job easier to explain.

Current monthly costs and forecasted monthly costs.

Savings, ROI, or net savings figures.

Equipment detail shown in the proposal.

EV charger modeling, where it is part of the sale.

Quick Quote for simpler add-ons or standalone work, such as HVAC, roofing, heat pumps, or EV chargers.

Make ownership and payment options easier to compare

Give customers a clear view of the options available to them.

Review:

Whether the proposal shows the ownership and payment options you offer.

Whether cash, loan, HELOC, lease, and PPA options are easy to compare, where relevant.

Whether monthly payment, term, APR, total repayable, and estimated savings are shown clearly where available.

Whether Figure HELOC appears correctly where available.

Whether Sungage options appear correctly where used.

Whether the customer knows what happens after they make their choice.

Track the work after checkout

Once the customer applies, signs, or pays, your team needs a clear record of what happened.

Review:

Finance application status, where available.

Signed contract tracking.

Deposit payment tracking.

Payment tracking in CashFlow.

Active invoices.

The next steps are shown to the customer after checkout.

Before you use it with customers

Make sure your team can:

Present the proposal clearly: show system details, savings, ROI, payment, and key proposal assumptions in a way the customer can understand.

Show ownership and payment options: compare cash, loan, HELOC, lease, and PPA options where relevant.

Take the customer through checkout: go from proposal to finance application, contract signing, and payment collection without extra follow-up.

Track what happens next: see applications, signed contracts, payments, invoices, and the full proposal-to-payment path in OpenSolar.

Move from legacy flows

Legacy proposal configurations and older checkout flows will begin sunsetting later this year.

Move over early so your team has time to get comfortable before your busiest sales periods.
